About the Artist
Joy, a native of South Carolina and mother of three, is a retired elementary school teacher.  She
received her BA and M.Ed. from the University of South Carolina. Joy spent most of her life in the
coastal South Carolina  lowcountry.

After retirement she moved to Geneva, IL and continuing her desire to be a "life long learner" she
began taking art classes. She immediately developed a love for oil painting. During the six years
living in the Chicagoland area she had the  privilege of being instructed by many accomplished
artists including Tony Carnesecchi, Buck Paulson, Marge Hall, Suzanne Poursine Massion and
Janet Wickham.  Joy and her husband are now both retired and live in Forsyth, GA where she
continues to paint.

Many of Joy’s paintings are the results of having spent numerous summers in the mountains of
Wyoming.  Her love of gardening, flowers, mountains and coastal landscapes can easily be seen in
her paintings.

Joy  is a member of the Monroe County Arts Alliance, Middle Georgia Art Association, ArtsClayton
Columbus Artists' Guild and Newnan-Coweta Art Association.  Her paintings are included in private
collections throughout the United States and Bahamas. She also has a painting on the set of the
NBC TV show "Parenthood".
